Position DescriptionThe Department of Industrial, Manufacturing and Systems Engineering (IMSE) in the Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, tenured Professor to begin September 1, 2025. The successful candidate will be an innovative, dynamic, collaborative, and entrepreneurial Chair of the IMSE Department, providing intellectual and strategic leadership for teaching, research, service, and outreach and engagement endeavors in the IMSE Department.Among other duties, the Chair will manage departmental personnel; administer the undergraduate and graduate programs with the assistance of Associate Department Chairs; develop and sustain connections with related professional entities to promote teaching, research, development, and outreach; effectively represent the department to internal and external entities; and promote the success of the faculty, staff, and students in the department. The Chair will also serve as a departmental faculty member with the following expectations related to teaching and research: Improve the departments reputation and research expenditures, mentor faculty, strengthen alumni relationships and fundraising efforts, lead student recruitment efforts, interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders, budget and allocate departments resources, and manage staff. The anticipated start date for this position is September 1, 2025.

Major/Essential Functions
In line with TTU's strategic priorities to engage and empower a diverse student body, enable innovative research and creative activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, applicants should have experience working with diverse student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels within individual or across the areas of teaching, research/creative activity, and service.

Required Qualifications
  • PhD in industrial engineering (IE), manufacturing, systems engineering, or closely related fields
  • Full professor or research record commensurate with the ability to be appointed as a full professor at TTU

  • Leadership: The candidate should have demonstrated leadership experience at the department, college, or institutional level. The candidate should have demonstrated the ability to work with and lead others in professional settings.

  • Research: The candidate should have a proven record of research scholarship.
  • Teaching: The candidate should have demonstrated strong commitment to teaching scholarship and practice.
  • Service: The candidate should have demonstrated a commitment to service and engagement at institutional and professional levels.
  • Mentoring: The candidate should have demonstrated a strong record of mentoring of students, post-docs, or junior faculty and staff.
