Job Details

The STEM Department at Gordon State College is a diverse group of biologists, chemists, mathematicians and other scientists who are committed to offering quality 2- and 4-year programs. We have a BS in Biology as well as several other degree tracts within the department. We also offer courses that support the College's other associates and baccalaureate degree programs. There are currently 19 tenure-track faculty and 4 lecturers in the STEM department.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate would be required to teach introductory biology courses (majors and/or non-majors), ecology, microbiology (for allied health and/or majors). Course assignments may include in-person and/or at a distance courses.

Requirements:
- PhD with a specialty in entomology or ecology.
- The candidate will have the educational background to teach introductory level biology and ecology/microbiology.
- Preference will be giving to candidates who can teach both ecology/entomology, and microbiology.
- Ability to teach effectively using a variety of methods, relate to students and facilitate student learning is required.
- Excellent communication, organizational and computer skills are necessary for the position.
- Demonstrated knowledge of instructional technology is required.
- The preferred candidate will be flexible, highly motivated, and enthusiastic about student success, student research, and the scholarship of teaching.
