Description
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Georgetown University (https://mathstat.georgetown.edu/) invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher in Applied Mathematics. The position will start on July 1, 2025 and is expected to last two years, subject to funding availability and performance.

The postdoc will have the flexibility to choose research projects and mentor(s) among the faculty members in the department. Possible research areas and related desired background consist of:
  • Research in Calculus of Variations, Functional inequalities, Machine Learning methods. Candidates should have a background in theoretical or computational PDE. Priority will be given to candidates with knowledge of Algebraic Analysis.
  • Research in hyperbolic boundary problems, in particular Maxwell equations. Candidates should have a background in Analysis of PDE.
  • Research in spatial evolutionary ecology. Candidates should have a background in PDE.
  • Research at the interface of probability and computational genomics with a specialization in random matrix theory and/or machine learning. An ideal candidate will have a strong probability background, some experience with computation, and be excited to learn about genomics and work on problems motivated by biological applications.


Qualifications
A Ph.D. in mathematics is required prior to the appointment start date. Candidates with a strong background in PDE or probability are encouraged to apply (see description).

The projected base salary range is $55,000 - $60,000. Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
