The Mathematics Department, Division of STEM and Education, invites applications for the following anticipated adjunct faculty vacancies for the Fall 2025 semester:
Developmental Mathematics
Location: Lynn and Danvers Campuses - Day and Evening
Developmental courses include topical coverage of foundational mathematics skills (solving relevant mathematical problems using numeracy, mathematical thinking and investigations, proportional reasoning, personal financial applications and fundamental algebraic reasoning) as well as courses teaching basic algebraic concepts that prepare students for college level mathematics in the STEM/Business pathways (solving equations, graphing linear equations in two variables, solving systems of equations and operations on polynomials). Technology and real-life applications are integrated throughout all courses.
College-Level Statistics and Support for Statistics
Location: Lynn and Danvers Campuses - Day and Evening
This course is an introduction to descriptive and inferential statistics and the basic laws of probability as used in business, social science, or education. Topics examined are: frequency distributions, measures of central tendency, measures of dispersion, normal distributions, confidence intervals, sampling, introduction to hypothesis testing, correlation, and linear regression. Other topics such as chi-square distribution and F-distribution will be covered as time permits. This course emphasizes the practical understanding and use of concepts and procedures essential to statistical analysis (statistical software may be used at the instructor's discretion for solving applied problems). Fulfills open, liberal arts, and mathematics electives.
The corequisite course Support for Statistics is designed to strengthen mathematics skills needed for the success in the college-level MAT143 courses. The course will include academic support to complete assignments covering topics from both the support and college level course. Real-world application problems will be emphasized.
Job Requirements:
- A Master's degree in mathematics or in a related field with significant graduate coursework in mathematics is required.
- Teaching experience in higher education and/or at the community college level is preferred.
- Experience teaching online/hybrid and/or embedding the use of technology into the curriculum is preferred.
- Teaching experience with corequisite course models is preferred.
- A commitment to and experience working with a diverse student body is also required.
- Successful experience interacting with culturally diverse populations.
- Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI background check as a condition of employment at both the college and the respective high school.
Additional Information:
SALARY: Adjunct salaries are dependent upon the number of credit hours, currently $1,104 per credit for first time faculty. This is a non-benefited, MCCC position.
