Job Description
The Tickle College of Engineering (TCE) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK), is seeking an Administrative Associate interested in working in a team environment supporting staff in the Advising Office.

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Administrative Services Manager in the Office of the Dean for the Tickle College of Engineering, the Administrative Associate will serve as administrative support for the Tickle College of Engineering (TCE) Advising Office and is the first point of contact for students, university staff and faculty, external constituents, and campus visitors; as well as general administrative support for the operation of all internal office functions. The position performs complex duties and assignments and provides direct support to the Advising Director, Associate Director, and TCE advising staff. This person interprets policies, procedures, regulations, and rules and assists students in understanding these requirements. All duties and responsibilities are completed with minimal oversight or supervision.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
  • A High school diploma with one to three years of office management experience. Experience gained as a student, volunteer or professional will be considered.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Ability to take initiative and pro-actively recognize tasks that could be accomplished is important
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to multi-task
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals
  • Good customer service skills
  • Flexible and adaptable, especially with new technologies and office processes
  • Dependable


Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's in business or related field; or the equivalent related experience.
  • Experience in higher education, CAP certification is preferred.
  • Advanced competency in Excel- daily use required in the advising office.
  • Experience working with parents and students.


Preferred knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of SalesForce, Banner, DARS, with advanced knowledge (expert) of SalesForce to serve as TCE Navigate Care Unit Manager preferred.
  • Strong understanding of confidential issues and FERPA guidelines.
